FOLK NAME: Alison, Madwort
POWERS: Protection, Moderating Anger
MAGICAL USE: Dioscorides recommended the alyssum as an amulet, for it has the power to 'expell charms.'  Hung up in the house it protects against fascination, that magical process which is also known as 'glamour.'
  Alyssum also has the power tocool down an angry person if placed in the hand or on the body, and was even said to cure hydrophobia (rabies).
